Anti-Corrosion Intermediate Coat

Dachin EP 551
Epoxy thick paste coating

Main Composition

A two-component, low-VOC, high-solids, high-build epoxy coating. The paint component consists of modified epoxy resin, micaceous iron oxide, pigments/extenders and additives. The other component is a phenolic amine curing agent.

Key Characteristics

Combines the dual functions of a sealer primer and intermediate coat. Exhibits excellent penetrating capability, outstanding barrier protection properties, and high adhesion. Compatible with various primer and topcoat systems.

Primary Applications

Widely used for steel structures in bridges, offshore engineering, petrochemical plants, paper mills, etc. Complies with JT/T 722-2023 Technical Specifications for Anticorrosive Coatings of Highway Bridge Steel Structures and JT/T 733-2021 Technical Requirements for Anti-corrosion Coatings on Port Machinery Steel Structures.

Application

Dachin EP 551 Epoxy High-build Coating is recommended for airless spray application to achieve effective single-coat film formation. Conventional spray, brush or roller application may also be used.

Surface temperature must remain at least 3°C above dew point with humidity below 85%. Curing requires ambient temperatures above 5°C. Maximum application temperature: 40°C. Substrates must be clean and dry. Ensure adequate ventilation in confined spaces.

Mix components A and B in specified ratio prior to use. Use mixed material within 4 hours. Keep all tools clean and dry before/after application.

Coating System Compatibility

Previous coat: Dachin Zinc 081/086/087/088 Epoxy Zinc-rich Primers; Dachin Graphene 013/016/018 Epoxy Graphene Zinc-rich Primers.

Next coat: Dachin PU 770 Polyurethane Coatings; Dachin PS 990 Polysiloxane Coatings; Dachin FC 880 Fluorocarbon Coatings.

Surface Preparation

Ensure previous coating layers are clean, free from oil, dust or contaminants. Apply Dachin EP 550 Epoxy MIO Intermediate Coat only over anticorrosive primers. The primer surface must be dry and uncontaminated, within specified recoating intervals. Repair damaged areas to required standards.

Mixing

This product comprises Component A (base) and Component B (cure agent) in separate containers. Stir each component thoroughly with mechanical agitation before mixing. Combine in exact specified ratios and mix uniformly.
